Castle hill where the Vikings attacked King Alfred the Great and his men on the the west side of Shaftesbury hilltop town in North Dorset.

Ancient ,sacred,burial ,ground .There I was surrounded by layers of history within the west hill side . Many old yew trees still stand here from medieval times.

It was a very impressive walk up to the very tall Tower sadly we couldn’t venture inside as it was under repair!
